TEDx Stanley Park – What you need to know with less than two months to go!

Any of you that know me know I’m a huge TED Fan. I regularly spend my morning workouts on the treadmill watching the latest TED videos, and searching out the less watched ones for inspiration and ideas. Heaven forbid should you be with me after I’ve seen something truly inspiring –  you will be inundated with my summary of the presenter and a recap of every second of the video.

So what is TED? TED stands for “Technology, Entertainment and Design” and has been around since 1984.  According to the TEDxStanleyPark Guide, “TED is now an annual conference that brings together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share ideas in diverse disciplines including technology, science, entertainment, motivation, social issues, health and wellness, entrepreneurship and the economy.”

The whole theme of TED is “Ideas worth spreading” and when I heard about TEDxStanleyPark –  I knew I wanted to be there. I quickly offered my services as a volunteer,  but then was invited to attend as a guest blogger… even better!!!

This year has a huge lineup of inspiring and amazing speakers. I can’t wait!

March 23rd marked the 2-month countdown to TEDxStanleyPark! Today is the LAST DAY you can get early bird tickets!

Here are the top 5 things I’m excited for:

– The Theme – This year it’s all about “Ideas to Action.” This theme was used to help guide the selection of the speakers.   Attendees  will leave with powerful calls to actions to help get their dreams started.

– The Speakers – World class speakers including Peter Legge and Jacky Yenga will be gracing the stage.

– The Sustainable Model – The event organizers have analyzed every aspect of the event to ensure that their environmental footprint is as minimal as possible. Even the name –  “TEDxStanleyPark” was selected “to capture the spirit of Stanley Park – both the event and the Park are an oasis that allow their visitors to escape from the hustle and bustle around them and be stimulated, inspired and energized.” This includes encouraging people to carpool or take transit, not handing out grab bags full of promo material that ends up in the garbage, and ensuring that the overall event leaves the smallest environmental footprint possible.

– Passion for Excellence – The planning committee has gone above and beyond to ensure the guests’ experience is excellent in every measure.

I’m so excited to be a part of this event.
